GetRight 5.0.1a Final
What is GetRight? GetRight is a Download Manager program to help you download files from the Internet. Most people have already experienced the problem… you are downloading a file, and your modem gets disconnected, or call waiting interrupts, or your computer crashes, or any number of other problems.
Then you have to restart the download from the very beginning, losing all the time you had already spent. GetRight solves this problem by allowing you to resume a download. If you got part of the file before the problem, GetRight will restart the download in the middle so it only gets the rest of the file, without having to restart from the beginning. This makes downloading your files much easier and faster.
GetRight has many other more advanced features to help you download the files - from re-dialing the modem automatically to turning off the computer when it is done getting the files (so you can just leave it alone to do the work!) You can even set a time when it should dial the modem to get the files…so it can do all the work in the middle of the night while you sleep.
There are too many other features to list here. If you have ever thought “I wish when downloading I could do …”, there’s a good chance GetRight already does it!
Major Changes in GetRight 5.0:
“QuickSync” and “Server Synchronizer”. Two features for quickly and easily gathering many files off a website. QuickSync for sites you want to process once; Server Synchronizer for sites you want to keep matched with your computer (can just download changed files!) Plus the GetRight Browser now does subdirectories too.
“Direct Cookies” and “Web Site Login”. These let you have GetRight log into web sites that use cookies to tell if you’re logged in or not (such as groups.yahoo.com). Now can download from those sites!
Improvements to Automatic Downloading. Can use classic “Priority” order for downloads, or new “Exact Ordering” to drag-and-drop files into the exact order you want. Separated limits for Files and Segments for better control of connections.
Added a simpler option for Automatic Segmenting/Accelerating; just do X segments per file if it meets a minimum size.
Much more customization and details can be shown. For the Download Status–can show or hide columns (and added a few new columns you can show–date added, etc.) and a few choices for the Speed Graph. For download windows, can show a Speed Graph or report with mirror/acceleration details.
“Advanced” buttons to easily view and change exceptions in the registry for your Click Monitoring and “Referer” settings.
Added a delay on the Internet dialing so can pause before redialing a broken connection.
Updated the old “Drag-Drop” window to look cooler.
The optional Gator software has been completely removed from the installer.

A list of most of the changes and improvements in GetRight 5.0.
“Whole-Directory-Tree” and “Synchronizing” things.
Some of the most advanced (like all the Uploading features and scripting) will be part of a “GetRight Pro” coming out sometime after 5.0 …
Add better cookie support (handling cookies directly in addition to using Browser cookies) and some other things that should get many of the “member/login” type websites working–like groups.yahoo.com.
Add so you can hide or show different columns on the Download Status (and added a few new columns you can show–date added, etc.) Plus options for changing the little speed graph in the corner a bit.
Added an option to do the automatic downloading file ordering by the “classic” priority levels, or do by the new “Exact Ordering”–drag and drop to just the order you want.
Totally redoing the registration codes so try and cut down on piracy. If you’re a registered user, you will also need to lookup your new registration code.
The “Recent Finished Files” (And “Recent Finished URLs”) on the Download Status menus aren’t always refreshing right. Works right if the one getting finished is showing in the list; but doesn’t refresh the menu right if it is not showing because the view is showing a Filter or Folder where it isn’t displayed.
Sorting by the Size on the download status wasn’t working right.
Added %N% special value for the Daily Downloads to do some simple file numbering.
Fixed a couple things in the Browser: more spaces-at-the-end issues, some CGI things being treated as Filters, Netware servers that sent a slightly different directory format so didn’t display right at all, Stop button not enabled when doing the server name lookup.
Fixed the broken Enter Code button on the About window. All the other Enter Code buttons and menus worked fine.
Fix what likely was causing the last of the “Verify” crashes.
Broke apart some Automatic mode limits so the number of Files is separate from the number of Connections and added a delay option before retrying the list.
Updated the old “Drag-Drop” window to look cooler.
Added a simpler Acceleration/Segmenting option…always the same number if the file meets a minimum size.
Added options for a graph and acceleration/mirror detail report on the download windows.
Changed tray-icon menu ordering a bit and added some options for controlling if the sub-menus are there.
Added opening the download folder to the Download window’s Options button-menu.
Added some extra File Write Caching (if you want to have it download more to memory before writing to disk–will reduce disk use, but can lose more data if you have a big Cache and something crashes.)
If choose to Change URL or Change Filename on download status with many selected, lets you do a mass search-and-replace on them all.
Added estimated finish time in the download window time-tooltip (”4:55 PM”).
Added a delay option before redialing a broken connection.
Added so Mirrors now correctly track User/Pass per mirror.
Change to avoid a possible crash if Speed Limit is on and getting an error message.
Fix so “Schedule Hangup” won’t cause it to try and hangup when you’ve got the window open
Added so drag-and-drop a block HTML text from IE to the GetRight Browser shows all the links in the text.
Handle a possible web-server bug that sends the wrong info back when resuming.
Change the FTP “test for resuming” so it isn’t a fixed value (REST 1) since some FTP server blocked access if trying that. And fix some error handling if get a odd response from the test too.
Fix to handle “escape” characters (like %20) if they get in the username/password.
Changed how the Config loads so it is much faster.
Improved checks for adding as mirror–so works better and does not try to add as a mirror if the same file name is downloaded from 2 different paths on the same server.
Added a cool graphic/title item on the tray icon menu. And changed the splash graphic.
Tons of little tweaks and improvements…
